Our Platform

We’ll be YOUR voice in the party and we’ll fight for:

  • Public Financing of Elections
    • Our democracy should not be for sale. We commit to advancing legislation and ballot measures that end the undue influence of big money in local and state elections. We support the overturning of Citizens United and advocate for public financing of elections.
    • We commit to only endorsing candidates who are not funded by corporate PACs, military contractors, fossil fuel industries, police unions, private prisons, foreign governments and corporations involved in human rights violations in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Higher Minimum Wage
    • There are over 1,000,000 people living in extreme poverty across the Bay Area (making under $35,000 for a family of three).
    • Increasing the state minimum wage will allow millions of people to better take care of their families, avoid homelessness, and live healthier lives.
  • Housing for People over Profit
    • We prioritize the basic human need for shelter over the profit-driven motives of the real estate industry that lead to homelessness, evictions, upzoning, gentrification and ultimately displacement. We believe housing affordability should be treated as a fundamental public good rather than a commodity.
      • Affordable Housing for All: Ensuring that housing is accessible and affordable for people of all income levels, not just those who can afford market rates.
      • Focusing on Communities: Emphasizing the importance of stable, thriving communities where people have access to safe and dignified living conditions, rather than seeing neighborhoods as opportunities for speculative investment.
      • Regulating Speculation: Curbing practices like real estate speculation, flipping, and large-scale corporate ownership of housing, which often drive up prices and displace residents.
      • Tenant Protections: Advocating for stronger rights for tenants, such as rent control, protection against eviction, and access to quality living conditions.
      • Non-Profit or Public Housing Models: Supporting housing models that aren’t driven by profit, such as cooperative housing, community land trusts, and government-subsidized public housing.
      • Ethical Urban Development: Opposing gentrification and development projects that prioritize high-income residents while displacing lower-income families or communities.
  • Safety for All
    • Whether you live in the flats or on the hills, you deserve to feel safe when you walk outside of your door. We advocate for smart-on-crime solutions, not failed tough-on-crime measures.
    • We want to see our taxpayer dollars support more resources and care for youth, as well as funding for community safety ambassadors, mental health clinicians, restorative justice programs, and violence interruption programs such as Operation Ceasefire.
  • Free Quality Childcare
    • Every child deserves a safe place to learn and grow, and no parent should have to worry about where their child is during the day—or choose between food, healthcare, and childcare. Free quality childcare supports parents in returning to the workforce while nurturing early childhood development for all families.
  • Reparations for African American descendants of slavery
    • California created a Reparations Task Force that researched and developed recommendations for how to achieve reparations for all African Americans in California who are descendants of slavery. We support the existing state and local recommendations for Black American reparations and reparative policies.
    • We also seek to transform systems across our state that continue the harmful vestiges of slavery, Jim Crow, and American racism, including redlining and discriminatory housing.
  • End to U.S. complicity with human rights abuses in Palestine and around the world
    • Our taxpayer dollars should be used to lift up children and poor families here at home, not to kill children in other places. We commit to disrupt the status quo of sending billions to foreign wars and occupations, to call on democratic leaders to oppose funding genocide, and to protect the rights of students and workers to peacefully protest unjust policies.
  • Climate Justice and Labor-Led Clean Energy Economy
    • Climate change threatens all of our health and ability to inhabit the Earth. We will work to remove the influence of oil, gas, and other polluters from the Democratic Party, and support the creation of good union jobs in the clean energy economy. We will support a Green New Deal, conservation, and restoration of our Earth with workers and frontline communities leading the way.
    • Climate change exacerbates the difficulties already faced by poor and marginalized communities and further threatens indigenous sovereignty. We will oppose specific projects like a coal terminal in the assembly district, support the elimination of failed cap and trade programs, and promote sustainability by advocating for recycling, natural solar and wind energy.
  • Indigenous Sovereignty
    • California was conquered and founded upon the removal and genocide of indigenous peoples. We advocate for the rights of California’s over 100 different federally recognized tribes and many non-recognized tribal communities, including the Ohlone communities right here in the Bay Area. We support their demands for land rematriation, cultural repatriation and the right to manage every aspect of their lives and governance.
  • Healthcare for All
    • Healthcare is a basic human right. Everyone deserves to be able to access healthcare when they need it, regardless of income or employment status. We support comprehensive access to quality, affordable, culturally-informed healthcare for all, which would improve health outcomes, reduce hospital costs, and prevent medical bankruptcy for many families.
    • Community-based and culturally-informed mental and behavioral health services should be made available to all. Santa Rita Jail is currently the largest ‘mental health’ facility in Alameda County. Incarcerating people with addiction and mental health issues only exacerbates their conditions and leads to further harm. We advocate for real solutions, such as access to mental health diversion, community-based treatment, and long-term care and accountability.
  • Comprehensive Immigration Reform and End to Deportations
    • We reject the cruel and inhumane practice of mass deportations that tear families apart, destabilize communities, and criminalize people who seek safety, opportunity, and freedom. Immigrants are an integral part of our society, contributing to our economy, culture, and shared humanity. Many of us are immigrants.
    • We believe that every person, regardless of where they come from, deserves respect, dignity, and the chance to thrive. Mass deportation policies perpetuate injustice, often targeting marginalized communities while ignoring the systemic inequities that force people to migrate in the first place.
    • Instead of walls, we advocate for bridges. Instead of fear, we choose compassion. Instead of deportations, we demand pathways to citizenship, protection for asylum seekers, and comprehensive immigration reform that prioritizes human rights over political rhetoric. We call for:
      • An immediate end to mass deportations and the militarization of borders.
      • The protection of Dreamers, refugees, and undocumented people who enrich our nation.
      • Policies that address the root causes of migration, including poverty, violence, and climate change.
      • A humane immigration system that values families, fairness, and freedom.
  • Greater Participation of Men of Color in Politics
    • As Black women and women of color, we stand in support of Black men and men of color, queer and non-queer, participating in politics and the Democratic Party. We want to promote their representation in every space where decisions are made.
    • We recognize our party’s failure at valuing their contributions in shaping our society and at creating safe spaces for their voices and stories to be amplified. We are one family and the future of our party politics is brighter and stronger when we celebrate diversity, champion equity, and provide all people, especially those historically marginalized, the opportunity to thrive.
  • Workers’ Rights in a Changing World
    • We believe in building a future that works—for everyone. In an age of rapid innovation and economic transformation, we stand united with unions and labor groups to protect the backbone of our society: the working people and our right to organize for living wages. Our commitment is clear—stronger collective bargaining rights, affordable health benefits, and safeguards against the unchecked use of artificial intelligence in the workplace.
      • Collective Bargaining is a Fundamental Right: Workers deserve a seat at the table to negotiate fair wages, safe working conditions, and opportunities for growth. We will protect and expand the power of unions to advocate for their members without interference or intimidation.
      • Affordable Health Benefits are Non-Negotiable: No one should have to choose between their health and their paycheck. We will work to ensure that all workers, unionized or not, have access to comprehensive, affordable health care that meets the needs of their families.
      • Responsible Use of AI and Automation: Technology should enhance work, not replace the dignity of it. We will fight for policies that prioritize worker retraining, job security, and ethical AI implementation to ensure no one is left behind as industries evolve.
    • Together, we can create a future where workers’ voices are not just heard but empowered. By standing with labor groups and equitable distribution of work, we are standing for fairness and opportunity for all to thrive.
  • Small Businesses Standing Against Corporate Monopolies
    • Small businesses, entrepreneurs, and startups are the heartbeat of our communities and the backbone of our economy. They create local jobs, foster innovation, and bring character and diversity to our neighborhoods. Yet, they face growing challenges from corporate takeovers, unchecked lobbying by big business, and the harmful impacts of greedflation.
    • We believe in leveling the playing field to ensure that mom-and-pop shops, family-owned businesses, and local startups can thrive without being crushed by monopolies or exploitative corporate practices.
    • We commit to:
      • Fighting against corporate greed that drives up costs for consumers while squeezing small businesses out of the market.
      • Supporting policies that provide fair access to startup capital, recovery during economic downturns, and resources for small business growth.
      • Advocating for tax reform that closes loopholes for giant corporations and shifts benefits to local businesses.
      • Promoting antitrust enforcement to break up monopolies and restore fair competition.
      • Prioritizing community-driven economic development and cooperatives that uplift local entrepreneurs and foster innovation.
    • When we invest in small businesses, we invest in our communities, families, and the future of a fair and equitable economy. Together, we can build a system that rewards hard work, values innovation, and keeps power in the hands of the people—not the corporations.
  • More Investments in the Arts and Our Creatives
    • Artists and creatives are the soul of our communities. Yet too often, the creative class faces economic instability, underfunding, and systemic barriers that undervalue their work. We believe that supporting artists means investing in the future of culture, innovation, and community well-being.
    • We commit to:
      • Increasing funding for the arts, cultural institutions, and creative education to ensure access and equity for all.
      • Advocating for fair pay and protections for artists, freelancers, and gig workers in the creative industries.
      • Expanding affordable housing, studio space, and healthcare access for creatives.
      • Promoting public art programs and initiatives that reflect the diversity of our communities and tell our shared stories.
      • Fostering policies that protect intellectual property rights while ensuring that art remains accessible to all.
    • A thriving creative class isn’t just about the arts—it’s about building vibrant communities, sparking innovation, and creating spaces where everyone can express themselves and grow.
    • Let’s stand together to ensure that artists and creatives have the support they need to continue making the world a more colorful, connected, and inspired place.
  • Data Sovereignty and Privacy Protections
    • In a world where data is power, it is critical that individuals, communities, and nations maintain sovereignty over their information. To ensure a free and fair future, we must safeguard data sovereignty, protect digital rights, and defend net neutrality. These principles are essential to preserving individual freedoms, fostering innovation, and preventing exploitation by corporations or governments.
    • We believe that your data is yours, and its use should reflect your consent, your interests, and your values—not the profit motives of others.
    • We believe:
      • Data sovereignty means that individuals and nations should have full control over their data, with clear protections against misuse, exploitation, and unauthorized access.
      • Digital rights are fundamental rights, including privacy, freedom of expression, and equitable access to technology, and they must be upheld in all online spaces.
      • Net neutrality is non-negotiable; the internet must remain a level playing field where all content is treated equally, free from throttling, paid prioritization, or corporate gatekeeping.
    • We commit to:
      • Strengthening data privacy laws that empower individuals and communities to control their data and hold corporations accountable.
      • Opposing surveillance, censorship, and exploitation of personal data, both by governments and private entities.
      • Advocating for robust net neutrality protections to prevent internet service providers from prioritizing profits over the public good.
      • Expanding access to affordable, high-speed internet for underserved communities to close the digital divide.
      • Promoting transparency and ethical standards in the development and use of digital technologies.
    • Let’s stand for a future where data empowers people, not corporations. By protecting data sovereignty, digital rights, and net neutrality, we ensure that technology serves the people—not the other way around.
